January 2020 Product Adoption Tip: Is a New Version Necessary?

Should I create a new version for the new year?

In most cases, versions can be re-used on a year-by-year basis. This is commonly achieved through regulating the start and end period of a version. This prevents users from entering data in time periods outside of the time range dictated by the start and end date. To specify a start and end date:

  • Open Model Manager
  • Select the needed cube and open up the versions dimension
  • Select the needed version
  • From here click on the image button for start and end as below

  • You can then select the needed start and end date through the following screen

  • After repeating setting your start and end date, make sure you save your changes in Model Manager and publish your changes once ready
