For this month we will be walking you through some Good to Know tips in Security Manager
1. Importing multiple users:
One of the core functions of Security Manager is adding new users. But what if you want to do a mass upload of users? Well you can surely add them individually but you can also upload a file to add them all at once.
To do that, Click on Tools–>Import Users
Upload your excel file. Watchout for the formatting rules!

2. License checking:
In Prophix there are several types of licenses. Usually not all licenses are used at once. So how do you know how many licenses are left and for which type? Well, there is an option in Tools menu call Licensing.
Once you click on that you will see your tally. This will help you know how to allocate licenses among your users.
3. Checking the Functions of a license type:
Speaking about licenses. How do you know what each license type does or simply speaking how to know what functionality is available for each license type? Well, on the right-hand side of the Security Manager window, there is tab call Functions. Click on that tab and that gives us a quick snapshot of all the Functionalities for each license type.
4.Download report to excel
Now that we have our list of users, and each user is assigned a license and their access. What if we want to get a quick snapshots of an overall security report for all your users? There is an option to export a report. To do that click on Tools–>Export Report. That will download a report where you can see all the Security access information for each user.
5.Creating groups:
You can also create Groups. The benefit of creating Groups is that you need to assign security access just once and it will apply to all the users under that group. For instance, you can create HR group. Add all the HR user in the HR group and change the Department security to show only HR.
To do that, click on the dropdown menu and select Groups
Click on the + sign and add new group
6.Copy Access
What if a user left your organization and you have add a new user. Are you going to go in the Access and replicate the security access? You don’t need to, because you can you just copy the security access of the old user.
To do that, select the old user–>click on Copy Data Access
Then click on the new user you want to copy it to and then click on Paste data
