It was such a great pleasure connecting with all of the attendees of the “Work Smarter with Automation” session in our first ever Virtual Summit!
To recap, we looked at structuring workflows and leveraging processes to reduce the amount of time spent on manual tasks such as collecting, and consolidating budgets, and preparing imports and overhead allocations.
This post is meant to share knowledge of existing processes and workflows that your organization uses to save you time. Let’s keep the momentum going!
How are you currently leveraging processes or workflows to simplify your day-to-day job?
For example:
Many customers have a direct connection to their ERP / data sources to automate the import of data from their data source to refresh Prophix reports & dashboards daily.
Prior to Prophix, customers would massage their information in Excel and use VLOOKUPs to perform an import for reporting & budgeting purposes.

Great session - as we prepare as an organization to move to the cloud I will definitely be looking for more ways to automate a lot of our regular processes!
As a starting point, I would sit down with your team and brainstorm all the manual tasks that you are currently handling in addition to mapping out the critical processes that the FP&A team executes.
You’d be surprised how many mundane tasks that are performed that go unnoticed! This will also allow you to question the efficiencies of certain processes.
Great tip Harald. Remember everyone, it may sound time consuming but sitting down and taking time now will reduce the manual work and save time in the long run!
This is a great thought on where to start! I think sometimes I get so wrapped up in just trying to get things done that I need to remember to take a step back and make time for things like this! Thank you!
